Spent the last month organising a really nice flight Brisbane-Sydney-Perth for today.
Wanted to go via Sydney to enjoy the A330 fabulous Business Class seat and service.
Picked a really good seat 2A on the A330 so all looked great.
Then of course it all fell apart at 1am today.
SMS from VA : my flight at 6am Bne-Syd was cancelled.
This meant that I could not make my connection to Perth and of course every other flight in Business class was full so VA could not reschedule me until Sunday morning!!!!
I realise that these things happen and in the last three weeks the flight from Brisbane to Sydney has not been cancelled , only today it has !
Not very happy but these cancellations do happen and i'm sure VA would rather it had operated.
Now have to sit around until Sunday morning.
Better drown my sorrows a bit later with a few red wines.
Ah! The problems of the First World Eh!

When did this site become a complaints line?

I'm not complaining as such , just stating my disappointment in the unfortunate cancellation.
This was to be a very special flight for me sampling VA's fabulous " The Business " experience probably for the last time at my age. I had saved up for many moths for this flight and paid the extra to go via Sydney to fly on it.
There was no way I was going to down grade after all the effort I made in saving up.
It will be worth the wait but I am disappointed in the fact that over the last 21 days the only time the flight from Brisbane was cancelled was today. Just bad luck I guess.
Better luck on Sunday!
Must say that VA call centre staff were extremely helpful in getting me a flight replacement that suited me.

It's not a 1 hr flight that's the issue, it's the 4 & 1/2 hrs transcontinental flight that did not have any seats available.
After all of the hassles finally got to Brisbane on Sunday morning and boarded the flight to Sydney, aircraft pushed back and then could not start one engine so a 2 hr delay and an equipment swap.
Got to Sydney with a 30 minute connection for A330 flight to Perth , arrived at gate , handed boarding pass and was told that I could not travel because my seat 5K was broken and there wasn't any other seats available that day.
Ended up overnighting at Airport Hotel at VA's expense for 9.35am flight to Perth next day.
Must say that VA staff were exemplary in the way they handled the matter and managed to get me on my way.
Top marks to VA staff.
Had a fabulous flight to Perth and enjoyed the best food I have ever had on any Airline over many years.
Must get the recipes.
Finally now in Perth.

It seems you concocted this whole trip just to enjoy the flight rather than actually wanting or needing to go to Perth for a specific reason lol. But sounds like it was worth it to you in the end.

I did have a very good reason to go to Perth, my 83 year old sister was having major surgery and I was going to assist her and the household whilst she recovers. As it turned out she had significant surgery and needs a fairly long convalescence. Because of this I now need to stay 2 more weeks. I paid a full fare Business Saver ( no points ) for the flights. Contacted VA this morning to change flights dates only to be told it would cost another $500 just to change the date ( exactly same flight numbers and routing ).
Seems as there is a different Business Saver fare from the one I paid. That's bad enough but VA want to charge me the fare difference for the sectors I have already flown as well!! IMOP that's plain wrong and is just price gouging.
Why on earth should I have to pay the difference for flights already flown?
I just can't understand why there is such a price difference in the first place let alone the this extra impost.
Not at all happy about this as it seems to me to be totally unreasonable, surely they are not that hungry for money or are they?
Might have to consider QF in the future.

I just had a lovely phone call from VA's Brisbane reservations..
The Overseas Call centre staff completely mucked my request up.
All was sorted out and there never should have been any extra charges so all is really good now.
Just goes to show how outsourcing can be a problem.
Full marks to VA Australian staff.
Happy business class flyer now.
