Just heard the news that Emirates has reduced its surcharges but when I tried to search using my Qantas account, there is no availability on premium cabins on all the routes and all dates I searched (DXB to Europe and Asia). Anyone noticed the same thing?

Random search Dubai to Osaka has First available on 5 Feb.
They may just be heavily restricting seats on popular routes at the moment.

I couldn't find any F seats from Melbourne to Dubai in September, but I found some from Sydney to Dubai on Emirates. I compared it on both the Emirates and Qantas sites and I was actually surprised - it showed the taxes for both Airlines at $312 AUD (which is high), and what was more interesting was that it cost nearly 30k less points on Emirates than Qantas - I just assumed the points cost were the same. Didn't find any reduction in taxes though.

Well, I couldn't see anything on DXB to KIX on 5th Feb. Is this due to having no Qantas status? But I noticed that alot of seats in business class on my watchlist just disappeared overnight. Emirates used to be very generous with medium and long haul flights to Asia and Europe but I hardly find anything now.

It was there but its gone now. I just did another random search. First class is wide open Dubai to Stockholm in Feb/Mar/Apr. It may not be available on all routes but premium awards are definitely still available.

I'm not sure if Emirates have withdrawn award seats while they await the change to partner status in September (when they can charge more points) or whether there has been a rush on people booking seats knowing they can cancel without penalty until October, but just in the last week seat availability seems to have dropped dramatically.
