Hi All,

Just managed to get the Status Match with Qatar, just wondering if anyone had any ideas for a Qatar Status run? I have been trying to look at flights but they all seem SUPER expensive to the other options and earning QPoints on Qantas are quite low, or none at all (domestic flights).

Not the best time to do a status run. Wait a month or so and you may get good domestic deals.

I would agree. I'm hopeful that when travel returns, so too will some good deals. At that point I'll look to book some flights with Qatar (Europe) and Qantas (NZ) to try and retain my newly obtained Qatar platinum card :)

Just to flag that when flying with Qantas, Privilege Club normally only awards the Qatar equivalent of points and status credits on flexible economy fares and higher - earn rate is 0 on things like Red eDeals, as well as international economy Sale and Saver fares on Qantas.

This just shows how ridiculous people are and how there's no hope in the world. There are global travel restrictions as a result of a worldwide pandemic with empty International airports everywhere..... Yet someone is looking at doing a 'status run' so they can get a free drink in a lounge next time they fly.
Can bet any money, you're a 25 year old AvGeek who does this for no other reason than to make themselves just that little better than someone else. Time to get a life mate.

Oh I thought that no points were accrued on Domestic Fares at all as per https://www.qatarairways.com/en-au/Privilege-Club/our-partners.QANTAS.html#undefined "Accrual on Qantas domestic flights are only eligible when they are in conjunction with an international flight marketed by either Qantas or Qatar Airways on the same ticket."

Oops my fault when you said Qpoints I was thinking QANTAS. Maybe back to QANTAS as Qatar will be expensive until Australia allows quarantine entry and Australians to exit without a valid reason.

Depends on the circumstances but if you have business travel to Europe, one business class round-trip will do for Gold, two for Platinum. Otherwise, for leisure travel, a few Europe trips on the cheapest fare and mix in a few mishmash of Qantas international flights here and there and you've got it.

With status credit runs one of the best places to start from is Colombo .Sri Lanka will open up on August first but i would wait a while Just to give you a QF SC run from Colombo , it cost just under $1300 for four bus class flights on UL and MH. I flew Colombo -KL--TPE and earned 320 SC for all four flights I always ticket out of Colombo although ive obviously begun my trip in Australia
