There's nothing worse than a whinger. In our (Australian) culture, it's the person you run a mile from. So, with this in mind please forgive the forthcoming.
Emirates lives in a world of blissful arrogance. Status Retention? No such thing. And, why, praytell, is that so?
Simply because EK expects you to jump on a plane now, today, to travel because 'we're flying, and so should you'.
We simply cannot cross borders at the moment and almost all carriers know this and are digging in to keep us (and maybe you) the business traveller 'on board & loyal'. But EK, not a hoot. 'No, we won't retain your status'; in other words, loyalty means nothing.
In the last 10 years, I've put well over $1M USD through EK, and not an ounce of recognition - or gratitude.
The competition? 10 Points to Qantas and, I must say, 10 Points to Qatar for status retention due to Covid19. I know where I'll spend my dollars.
I'm curious if anyone else has had a better experience with status retention and Emirates?
I haven't spent as much as you but I totally agree will loose my platinum status obviously as I am not flying but no recognition or loyalty to me at all! Qatar will be my beneficiary now

You could be in luck. QR are doing (or were) status match. QR Platinum will open all the OneWorld Platinum benefits, too.
Forgive me the assumption that $10m is through your business, not you personally, so your complaint is really that they don't have special recognition for people responsible for choosing business services? Not totally unreasonable - I think Chairman's Club for Qantas has this kind of approach with people in your procurement league. But once things resume, I'm sure they would target such a high spending group for recognition again quite quickly. Don't lose hope too soon.
Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum members, with a tier status review between March 2020 and September 2020 who are unable to retain their existing tier, will have their existing status extended until 31 December 2020.
Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum members with a tier review date prior to 1 April 2021 will retain their current status for a further 12 months with just 70% of the usual travel requirements.

Disappointing from EK, but to be fair they are still doing something but not as much as other airlines. I guess this could be reviewed later on.
