My daughter wants to fly from UK to OZ in early Oct. Which airlines are actually carrying economy class passengers in on a regular basis given the 350 per day cap. Checking flight radar quite a few international carriers seem to have flights but are they freight or biz class only?

If you want to ensure that your daughter gets back into Australia in October, her chances would be much better if she buys a business class ticket.

There is news today about possible further repatriation efforts though that may not happen as soon as October and may only be for those overseas facing deportation. Financial assistance may also be made available to those in extreme hardship with no other means of support who are not facing deportation. However it will be interesting to see the detail if anything concrete comes from this.

Some friends of mine just arrived back in Australia from the UK. They ended up having to buy business class tickets as it was absolutely impossible with economy tickets. When they originally had economy tickets, they were bumped off their flights - even at Heathrow, time after time.

Just helped friends get back - Singapore Airlines were the only option that would carry them in economy within a month of booking. They were flying home to Brisbane but had to book to Perth. Spent a night in quarantine there and were then escorted to a flight to Bris to see out their 14 days.

As others have said though, if it's affordable to you and your daughter- it may well be worth the extra $$ this time for J.

The problem is that a business class flight from London to Sydney in the coming months is around $10,000.
So many Australians overseas who need to return home. To look after sick or dying relatives. Australians who have lost their jobs overseas. Australian volunteers in war torn countries. The only way to get home is to pay for a $10,000 business class ticket. And then another $3,000 + 14 days quarantine on arrival. INSANE.
