A question posed out of curiosity â how many of you travel with an iPad AND a laptop in your carry-on bag? And why do you carry both on board?

Yes, Xoom and a 13" notebook. The Xoom for reading emails downloaded before boarding and .pdf books, Kindle etc. on board. Need notebook for work but no way I'm checking it in with my main suitcases.

If I have work due around the time I am travelling I take my 13" MacBook Pro and my iPad.

Carry my Macbook Pro as well as my iPad but the only reason is because my checked bag always seems to be singled out for ground staff to practice penalty shootouts with it.

Only if I'm in economy and carrying my 17" laptop (as opposed to the 11"). The 17" is a bit unwieldy for economy seats, so I use the iPad for entertainment. If I've got the tiny one then I leave the iPad home.

iPad only for me, I pack the MacBook into checked luggage, risky perhaps although it's well-padded and the luggage is locked but that's better than carting 'dead weight' around.
