The pop up ads at the bottom of the screen are really annoying. Especially when you X out of it and only 10 seconds later as you scroll through it pops up again. I get there’s a need to search for ways to make revenue but what has lipstick got to do with the Trans Taman bubble closure for the next 8 weeks?
I value ET and totally get the need for the site to be supported by advertising.
My only problem is that my smartphone (iPhone SE 2015?) leaves very little space for the text or body of the article that I am trying to read. With the ET header, then the article title and 'share' options at the top, and the advertising banner below, I have a scant 2" or 50mm to view the text. Which is fine, if not ideal.
(Obviously I am not one to update my phone every year, and am waiting until the iPhone 13 before I upgrade)

I highly recommend uBlock Origin.

The only other option is a subscription fee. The bills need to be paid somehow.
