@peterh - there have been two updates / confirmations of LATAM's return to SYD-SCL within the past 10 days. One was a report at SimpleFlying on 13 Oct 2021 and the second was on CentreForAviation 15th Oct 2021. Both confirm via interviews, it is flagged as first quarter, 2022 (1Q22). Whether this will be updated by LATAM in response to our borders being opened at 01 Nov 2021 is currently anyone's guess. Regrettably LATAM's website contains no information about service resumption across the South Pacific.
I am not aware of any formal resumption notice of service on Qantas to Santiago, Chile (SCL) at this stage, although an announcement should be expected. This may be dependent on both demand for service coupled with availability of B787-9 frames, as well as approvals to operate this type across the South Pacific / polar regions on commercial services. Although, QF recently operated a one-off Government Repatriation flight from EZE to DRW, which should surely be accepted as a suitable proving flight.
Air New Zealand has announced that it has suspended it's AKL-EZE[AKL service (Auckland to Buenos Aires and return) and that it will not return, along with the LAX-LHR (Los Angeles to London Heathrow) service.
If it is a super-urgent trip, then you possibly might have to consider flying via the USA, where limited South American services are supposedly becoming operational.
I was looking for flights next year to Santiago, some insane cheap classic rewards in business via the states. was under 200k points and only $200 odd in taxes. that was with AA and LAN if l remember correctly.
But l think l saw on QANTAS they were looking at a March/April 2022 start
