we've flown to USA few times a year over the last 20+ years & generally get cheap tickets to LAX & then use frequent flyer points from there, which included 1 checked bag up until last year. Now it seems the included checked bag, is no longer included. Is this correct ? When were changes made ? With some very good Southwest fares(must be best airline in USA) you can fly Southwest for less than the cost of a checked bag on AA.

If you have status you're fine: https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/baggage/checked-baggage-policy.jsp

If you prefer Qantas you'll want AA. If you like Jetstar then Southwest will suit. Alaska is in Oneworld now too, more like Virgin 2.0.
