I am travelling from Cape Town to Dubai then onto Europe later in the year in economy on Emirates. I am a platinum with Qantas. Will I get access to the lounge through my qf status?

Probably not, EK is not in Oneworld and you won't be on a QF codeshare. Never hurts to ask though.

You should have access based on your platinum status. Only place lounge access doesn't work is if you are in (or flying to) North/Central/South America.

Here is the quote from the Qantas website:

Eligible customers can also access Emirates Lounges across Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East when flying on eligible Qantas or Emirates flights with a QF or EK flight number on your ticket.

The key words are "eligible... flights". This is not a blanket privilege.

The QF/EK partnership will cover you in North Africa only. (Nairobi, Accra, Cairo etc...)

There's a handy little map here: https://www.emirates.com/au/english/travel-partners/qantas/
