I recently went to the EK lounge with QF First Boarding Card for a QF flight and QF Platinum membership and was turned away and referred to the American Airlines lounge. I went to the Cathay Pacific lounge instead where I was made most welcome.

I wonder if EK has created a cheat sheet for distribution to its overseas stations?
BA use to have this file at the lounge reception that staff can refer to. So even if they tried to deny entry to a Qantas Club member you could get them to flick through the file and point to the page for Qantas Club; whereupon they would swallow humble pie, and try to work up a smile as they let you in.

Qantas' website states:
"When travelling from London, Qantas Club Members will have access to the American Airlines Admirals Lounge at London Heathrow when their next onwards flight that day is with Qantas or Emirates between Australia, Dubai and London."
I assume the exclusion of the Emirates Lounge at LHR applies to all Qantas frequent flyers. They could do with specifying this a bit more clearly when they start harping on about access to Emirates' network of lounges given that LHR is the only airport in Europe where Qantas passengers might make use of the alternative lounge.

You can only access the Emirates Lounge if you qualify under their usual entry requirements (so you need to be travelling in First or Business Class on an Emirates flight).
If you're flying in Economy and your flight has a QF code the you'll be able to use a Oneworld lounge.
If you're in Economy and your flight has an EK code then I'm not sure that you are entitled to any lounge access.

am,
OW rules specifically states that to use a OW lounge as a Sapphire or Emerald member you need to be on a flight that is BOTH marketed and operated by a OW carrier.
So EK operated flight with QF code does not qualify.

Bah, confusing rules! I think it's high time for Qantas to open up their own lounge at LHR anyway!

highflyer,
Yes you can use the EK lounge at LHR as a QFF Platinum member when flying on a QF codeshare operated by EK metal.
Talk about fine print!!! Cheeky b*******!
From the Qantas website:
"Platinum One, Platinum and Gold Frequent Flyers have access to the Emirates lounge* where available across Australia, Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East."
"* Access to the London Heathrow EK lounge is available when on an Emirates operated flight only. "
So if you're QFF Platinum travelling on QF metal in Y, then you'll have to use the BA/AA/CX lounges.
Presumably in F and J, you can use the EK lounge even when flying on QF metal? Anyone with exceptions to share?
Sneaky. Very very SNEAKY!

Dave, were you on QF # on QF Metal, or Codeshare on EK Metal? Or J Class on EK Flight # on EK Metal?

i'm just curious: Which lounge did the QF LHR check-in agent tell you to go to? Did you ask them? I'm curious to know their response....
I've just checked the QF website...It seems the lounge available for F,J,Gold, Plat, Plat 1 are now just the AA and BA lounges!
For QC it remains only the AA lounge, which has extended its operating hours till 2200h!
Geez I wonder when Qantas was going to update us?
