Malaysia Airlines puts the world on sale for Aussie travellers

With 2025 stretching ahead, Malaysia Airlines has launched a sale with up to 30% off fares to over 60 destinations under its new ‘Time for’ campaign.

The campaign positions Malaysia and its flag-carrier as "the ultimate gateway to Asia and beyond,” with the following return fares serving as examples from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide (Perth is cheaper again)

  • business class to London from $7,139 (economy from $1,629)
  • business class to Paris from $8,079 (economy from $1,819)
  • business class to Chiang Mai from $3,429 (economy from $799)
  • business class to the Maldives from $5,329 (economy from $1,009)

Special bundles also include additional checked luggage, extra legroom seats and lounge access to Malaysia Airlines’ Kuala Lumpur lounge.

Malaysia Airlines’ ‘Time for’ sale runs through to 22 January and kicks off a busy year for the Oneworld member in the lead-up to a national Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

This includes the return of daily flights to Paris from 22 March and the rollout of modern Airbus A330neo jets crowned with new business class suites.

The A330neo is already flying to Melbourne, with Sydney tipped to follow in the coming months.

“Australia is a very big market for us,” says Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer for Malaysia Airlines, “and it’s the core of our backbone of growth.”

“There’s a lot of Australian traffic to Malaysia, because Australians love Malaysia, and we’re also seeing a lot more Australian transit passengers as well.”

Aresandiran tells Executive Traveller “our plans for Australia is we want to get up to three times a day to Melbourne and to Sydney,” while a return to Brisbane remains high on the to-do list.

In addition to the new ‘Time for’ campaign, Malaysia Airlines is continuing its popular long-running Bonus Side Trip program to other destinations within Malaysia – such as Penang or Langkawi – during a stopover at Kuala Lumpur, before travellers head to their final destination.

These flights are free, with passengers needing only to pay taxes.

“It’s almost two cities for the price of one,” Aresandiran says of the Bonus Side Trip, which is “about getting someone in transit to experience the best of Malaysia.”
