Marriott’s ambitious expansion plans in the Middle East will continue throughout the decade with a new Doha Marriott Executive Apartments property opening in 2019.
Suited to travellers on longer stays in the Qatari capital, the 300-suite property will still provide amenities you’d find in the chain’s main-brand hotels such as wireless Internet, but will also treat all guests to a complimentary breakfast each morning.
The announcement comes as Marriott ramps up its presence in the United Arab Emirates with nine new hotels planned for Dubai and Abu Dhabi, plus 21 new properties in neighbouring Saudi Arabia to open by 2025.
“We have ambitious plans for growth internationally, and the Middle East and (also) Africa will play a large role in helping us achieve both our short-term and long-term targets,” said Alex Kyriakidis, Marriott International President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa.
Marriott also intends to plant its flag in eight further countries between now and 2025, including Iraq, Gabon, Rwanda, Tunisia, Benin, Kenya, Libya and Mauritius.
The Doha Marriott Executive Apartments is expected to participate in the Marriott Rewards loyalty program, as are the multitude of other new properties opening in the region.
