IN BRIEF | The United Arab Emirates is gearing up for an influx of Marriott-chain hotels over the coming years, including the new Renaissance Downtown Hotel Dubai by the end of 2016.
With 298 rooms, the property targets both discovery-orientated business travellers and “curious leisure travellers” by providing guests with access to in-house “navigators” who, we’re told, can guide you with your sightseeing plans beyond the typical guidebook.
That’s joined by Abu Dhabi’s first Marriott Hotel – the 315-room five Marriott Hotel Downtown Abu Dhabi – plus the 64-suite Marriott Executive Apartments Downtown Abu Dhabi in the national capital.
Over in Dubai and also opening this year: the 86-room La Ville Hotel City Walk hotel under the Autograph Collection banner, the 68-suite La Ville Apartments City Walk and 500-room Lapita Hotel again badged as an Autograph Collection property.
These join the existing JW Marriott Marquis Dubai hotel – crowned as the world’s tallest hotel – plus other properties in the region under various Marriott-backed brands including The Ritz-Carlton, Marriott Executive Apartments and the traditional ‘Marriott’.
Also on the agenda: the opening of a Marriott Executive Apartments property in Abu Dhabi later this year plus the region’s first Edition and Bvlgari hotels in 2017, all of which are expected to participate in the Marriott Rewards loyalty program.
