Move fast: Virgin Velocity triple status credits promo

Heads up, Virgin Australia frequent flyers – the clock’s ticking on an unprecedented triple Velocity status credits offer.

Although only on offer for 72 hours, ending at 11:59pm AEST on May 29 2024, bookings made during this period will earn a triple serve of status credits on flights through to July 31, 2024.

This is a rare opportunity to help you make the jump to Velocity Gold or Velocity Platinum, or to lock in that status for another year. 

And don’t overlook family pooling to have the tripled status credits of other family members on Virgin flights sent into your own Velocity account.

As with previous Velocity status credits promotions, you’ll need to register for this offer at the Velocity triple status credits activation link on the Virgin Australia website before making any eligible bookings.

To give that some perspective, a one-way business class flight from Sydney to Brisbane or Melbourne would normally earn 55 status credits.

Under this latest promo, you’d stand to pocket a solid 165 points for that one-way business class flight.

Given that you need 500 Status Credits to tick your Velocity tier over to Gold, or just 400 Status Credits to keep Velocity Gold membership for another year, just two of those return trips will have you rocket from zero to Gold-plated hero with 660 status credits to your name.

And Gold is often considered to be the sweet spot for Velocity, including perks such as lounge access, priority treatment at check-in and for boarding, along with reciprocal status at Hilton or IHG hotels.

(For what it’s worth, the same one-way flight on an economy Choice ticket will earn you a not-to-be-sneezed-at 45 status credits under this promotion.)

The Velocity triple status credits promotion applies across Virgin’s Australia-wide network plus international flights, as long as these are flown by Virgin and carry a VA flight number – so codeshares with partners such as ANA, Air Canada, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines don’t apply.
