Virgin Australia to buy back full ownership of Velocity Frequent Flyer
May 14, 2019, 01:36 PMLet's be realistic about this. Sure, keeping Velocity will probably make sense in the long term but does Virgin actually have a long-term future without a solid injection of money right now? Maybe not! If Velocity can be sold for 15x earnings as per AFR speculation then that's $1.8bn, of which Vi...

Qantas' Airbus A380, and first class, returns to Sydney-Hong Kong
Apr 24, 2019, 10:52 AMWhich I would expect would be assigned to the big routes such as London and Los Angeles. For Qantas, the A380 to HKG is all about capacity so it really doesn't need to be the latest and greatest. I would actually think HKG will be at the back of the queue.

Road test: Mini Clubman John Cooper Works All4
Mar 20, 2019, 11:57 AMThe Mini Coopers won the Bathurst 500 in 1966, I think in fact they took the first three places, they had plenty of 'go' and stuck to the corners, and with twin tanks they ddn'didn't have to stop so often for fuel! They were also driven by the NSW Police for a while, funniest thing to see a blue-...

What to expect from Virgin Atlantic’s new Upper Class business class
Mar 20, 2019, 11:52 AMI know this is only speculation but yes, I would think the Vantage XL Suite of Delta would have to be the safest bet. Still plenty of ways for Virgin to make it very much their own but with the help of a design firm as they wouldn't be large enough to have an in-house design team as BA does.

Qantas, Aer Lingus end frequent flyer partnership
Mar 20, 2019, 11:51 AMI think we will definitely see Aer Lingus joining Oneworld Connect with the backing of parent BA plus BA's JV partners Finnair and American Airlines, but I hope Qantas signs up afterwards because the benefits of being a 'backer' of a Oneworld Connect airline are pretty good if you are a frequent ...

Qatar Airways QR909 Sydney check-in times
May 06, 2019, 09:44 AMQR907 departs SYD at 3.45pm, QR909 departs SYD at 9.15pm so three hours before that is 6.15pm. So this is a good question, it's not like Cathay Pacific where some flights overlap, but those few hours are not a really long break but I can't imagine staff being paid to sit there and do nothing for ...

Frequent flyers, what sleeping pills do you use and recommend?
Apr 22, 2019, 05:05 PMMelatonin is my 'go-to', buy it from the USA on your next trip there, there's loads to choose from at CVS and Walgreen. It's very inexpensive, ranges from tablets or capules of 3mg to 5mg to 10mg. I find 5mg is enough. Don't bother buying in in Australia, chemists here have to have a prescription...

Oneworld lounge access after a business class flight
Mar 20, 2019, 01:44 PMAward booking makes no real difference to your lounge access in this instance, it's more about class of travel and status. Do you have Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire frequent flyer status to get you into the Malaysia Airlines lounges? If you don't have lounge status then you are relying on your inb...

What's your breakfast 'go to' at the Qantas first class lounge?
Mar 07, 2019, 12:39 PMI love the pancakes, surprisingly light compared to the heavy stodge which some cafes serve. The fresh fruit on top makes me a feel a bit healthy too LOL! Most of my flights are in the morning so this is all I have, plus a coffee, to take away hunger pangs, and I honestly don't like being too lon...
