Review: Qantas vs Virgin Australia business class, Sydney-Melbourne
Oct 13, 2023, 06:27 PMUltimately as intimated in the article, Qantas's on paper product (as long as comparing 737s) is slightly ahead but the Virgin overall experience is good enough especially when the fare difference is more than a couple of hundred. In this context it's worth mentioning the main reason why rex doesn...

Review: Virgin Australia’s new business, economy class seats
Jul 08, 2023, 04:44 PMInteresting they have installed USB A chargers in a world moving to USB C. My last two Samsung phones came with a USB C power brick and a USB C to USB C cable. New iPhones come with a USB C cable. Perhaps today USB A is still more widely used, these seats are there for 10 years.

Up close with Qantas’ luxurious new A350 first class suites
Mar 08, 2023, 05:09 PMI'm not sure I'd call it a "fail" ... It certainly an appropriate step up from business.I do agree it's not on par with the Singapore suite or Etihad 'apartment' on their A380s, but it does appear to beat those airlines' A350, 777 and 787 offerings.

Should you apply for the new Star Alliance credit card?
Nov 09, 2022, 02:52 PMPossibly why they launched in Australia? Not directly competing with a product from an alliance airline.

Cathay Pacific adds The House lounge to its Sydney options
Nov 05, 2022, 09:12 AMI haven't used The House since the pandemic... It used to be a nice lounge (I used it as a VA gold pre HK and Bali flights and with Etihad)... A la carte service meant it was over and above typical business lounges, and there always seemed to be seating available. Sad to hear it's gone downhill.

737 max in the News again…. in many broadsheets around the world
Dec 31, 2023, 11:16 AMThis immediately makes me think of the design flaw in the original 737 rudders in the 1990s, which I think was caused by failure of a hydraulic value in the rudder controller.

Report on switch from QF to VA for domestic travel
Sep 24, 2022, 07:37 PMOriginally Posted by greg959 Thanks very much for this report. It is good to hear. I tried virgin earlier in the year and it wasn’t great. I do enough domestic and international travel to maintain platinum on both QF and VA but hadn’t taken a VA flight in a few years. My sense is that ...

Pre Depature Covid Testing - Once Borders Open
Oct 10, 2021, 09:32 AMI would reconsider any overseas travel while this requirement is in place. I understand the desire to ensure there isn't spread on the plane and transit to quarantine, but getting stuck overseas for unknown period without being able to board my return flight would be hellish. The risk likelihood ...

Sabre IT outage affecting Virgin Australia (and others like Rex)
May 27, 2021, 07:39 PMOriginally Posted by XWu @andyfI wonder if your flight on Sunday was part of a return flight itinerary or separate bookings from outbound flight (ie one return booking vs 2 separate booking) which may influence the way they handled your request or rebooked your flight.I also wondered if you asked...

Sabre IT outage affecting Virgin Australia (and others like Rex)
May 23, 2021, 06:02 PMMy (Sunday) direct flight cancelled by Virgin. Rebooked for Monday morning (with stopover) automatically, got a text and email about 5 hours before the flight just saying my flight has changed, and that I could check in to the new flight.Called VA Gold Line to see if there were any alternatives, ...
