Air Canada reveals new Airbus A220 business class
The nimble single-aisle A220 will dart daily to Seattle and San Jose from May 2020.
Air Canada has pulled back the covers on its new Airbus A220, which will begin flying daily to Seattle and San Jose from May 2020. The Canadian flag-carrier has 45 of the nimble single-aisle jets on order, with 12 business class seats and 125 economy class seats.
Air Canada's Airbus A220 business class seats don't intend to spark a revolution, with three rows of wide 2-2 recliners – much as you'd expect from almost any relatively short-range business class.
The 125 economy class seats adopt a less commonly-seen 3-2 layout – note the kink in the aisle above, which allows Air Canada's A220s to have two economy seats on the left side and three on the right.
Several rows of Air Canada's Airbus A220 economy cabin are earmarked as Preferred Seats with additional legroom, priority boarding and reserved overhead bin space.
No matter which seat you're in, Air Canada says there'll be fast WiFi plus over 1,000 hours of inflight entertainment.
Air Canada has listed the Airbus A220 for daily Montreal-Seattle and Toronto-San Jose services beginning May 4, 2020. These are new routes for the Star Alliance member, which already flies to Seattle from Toronto and Vancouver, and from Vancouver to San Jose.
"With these two new non-stop routes, Air Canada is deepening its transborder network," says Air Canada exec Mark Galardo. "This includes strengthening our position in the Seattle market by providing yet another key link for business and leisure travellers with service from Montreal. This aircraft is a game changer for Air Canada as there is simply no rival in this category."

I like the 3x2 seating arrangement. As I travel a lot with my wife, the 2's give us the best option for me to gawk out the window, while she doesn't have to get jammed in the middle!
