Air Mauritius resumes twice-weekly link to Perth
The airline’s lie-flat business class will ensure your tropical holiday gets off to a flying start.
Mauritian national carrier Air Mauritius has made its long-awaited return to Australian shores this week, with the first flight in over two years touching down in Perth yesterday and reestablishing a key link to the East African island nation.
Now jetting off twice-weekly across the Indian Ocean on its Airbus A330neo, MK440 makes the 6 hour 55 minute journey from its hub of Port Louis to Perth on Tuesdays and Saturdays, departing at 10:15pm and arriving into the West Aussie capital at 9:10am the next day.
On the return leg, MK441 sees wheels up at 1:05pm every Wednesday and Sunday, landing at Port Louis’ Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport 8 hours and 5 minutes later at 5:10pm.
Those looking to make the trek in style will be drawn to its fully-flat business class, equipped with 28 seats in a 1-2-1 layout, each offering direct aisle access.
Air Mauritius currently flies to eight destinations across Europe, Asia and Africa. Although not a member of any alliances, and no longer a partner with Virgin Australia, it does have codeshare agreements in place with Air France, Emirates and Air Canada.
Air Mauritius Chief Commercial Officer Laurent Recoura describes it as an opportunity to catch up on lost moments, while also offering a tropical break en route to Africa and Europe.
“Mauritius has proved itself to be a world- in-one island,” says Recoura. “Its exotic blend of French, African, Chinese and Indian culture, white beaches, and exhilarating adventure make it a great destination for Australians.”
“The direct connection not only represents the best and fastest way to travel to Mauritius, but also allows passengers to benefit from Air Mauritius’ international network and reach beyond destinations in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Indian Ocean islands,” Recoura adds.
From Port Louis, travellers flying business class and Gold members of the airline’s Kestrelflyer loyalty program enjoy access to the split-level Amédée Maingard Lounge, with the Tamarin Lounge on Level 1 and the Chamarel Lounge on Level 2.
Free wifi, showers, and buffet dining are just a few of the perks within.
