Air New Zealand's 'epic' last-ever Hobbit safety video

Air New Zealand has shot its final Hobbit safety video, and it's an epic clip which is fittingly titled "The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made."

The video comes ahead of the final film in The Hobbit Trilogy – The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – and stars Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Dean O’Gorman (Fili the Dwarf) and Sylvester McCoy (Radagast).

The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made was directed by NZ filmmaker Taika Waititi with cameos from The Hobbit Trilogy director Sir Peter Jackson, Weta Workshop co-founder Sir Richard Taylor and Waititi himself, who appears as a Wizard.

It was shot over six days across a number of New Zealand’s Middle-earth locations, including Hobbiton and Central Otago, both of which appear in The Hobbit Trilogy.

The video, which can be seen below in all its epic epic-ness, will be rolled out across the Air New Zealand fleet from today.

There's also a companion 'behind the scenes' video.

AirNZ's first Hobbit-inspired safety video, "An Unexpected Briefing", attracted more than 12 million global online views.

Air New Zealand Head of Global Brand Development Jodi Williams says the latest safety video wraps up a successful three-year association between the airline and The Hobbit films.

"We are very proud to be the official airline of Middle-earth and have worked hard over the past three years to create highly effective global marketing campaigns, including distinctive branded aircraft and Hobbit-inspired online content, which have got the world talking about both our airline and destination New Zealand."

No, I think he looks even more adoable when he's sitting in the Premium Economy seat and the flight attendant is explaining about the life jackets for little ones, and he's sitting their with that little smile on his face!

Brilliant, have you just watched passengers reactions to these and the All Black safety videos.

As I have said before, ANZ an innovative airline runs by marketers, QF a staid airline run by accountants.
