Best seats guide: Qatar Airways Qsuites (Boeing 777 and Airbus A350)

Qatar Airways’ ‘super business class’ Qsuites have been flying high since June 2017, and currently grace the skies from Doha to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide on the Boeing 777-300ER.

You’ll also find Qsuites on all Airbus A350-1000s, plus some Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-200LR jets. More planes will join this roster as Qatar continues to refurbish its fleet.

With 42 Qsuites to choose from on the Boeing jets, we take a close look at the seat map to find you the perfect perch on what we consider to be the best business class seat currently flying.

The best Qsuites: at a glance

These are our recommendations for the best Qsuite business class seats on Qatar Airways' Boeing 777-300 jets.

• Solo travellers: 3A, 3K, 5A, 5K, 10A, 10K
• Cosy couples: 3E & 3F,  5E & 5F, 9E & 9F
• Colleagues: 2D & 2G, 4D & 4G, 8D & 8G, 10D & 10G
• Groups of four: Any of the five available ‘quad suites’ (at seats D, E, F and G

Note that all A, E, F and K seats face backwards, while B, D, G and J seats are forward-facing.

The best Qsuites for solo travellers

If you’re travelling on your own, you’ll probably appreciate privacy, space and a view. With a 1-2-1 configuration, the sides of the plane are the place to be.

In fact, per Qatar Airways policy, solo passengers should only be able to select A, B, J and K seats initially, so the double/quad pods don’t get broken up by single travellers unless there’s no more space.

All the A and K seats are closest to the window and backwards facing. The sliding door is away from you in the aisle, maximising the feeling of space. These seats would be our top pick, with preference to the middle of each mini-cabin (rows 3, 5 and 10).

The B and J Qsuites face forwards and position your seat adjacent to the aisle and sliding door, and further away from the window.

The best Qsuites for cosy couples

Starry-eyed couples will relish the opportunity to cuddle up on a ‘double bed’ - which is possible on the rear-facing E & F seats.

There are six such pairs on the Boeing 777, and they do have a full-length privacy divider if required – but for those travelling together, the crew can make up your bed and cover the gap between seats for a more seamless experience.

The E & F pairs furthest from distractions are in rows 3, 5 and 9.

The best Qsuites for coworkers

For situations where you would like to converse with your travelling companion but not snooze next to them, we recommend either the E & F seats (above) with the centre divider raised during sleep, or for a bit more personal space, the forward-facing centre D & G pairs.

They are still close enough to interact with each other, but also sufficiently separate enough so everyone can feel comfortable in their own seat without rubbing shoulders.

If productivity is needed on the flight, the D & G pairs also feature a shared table in the middle, which would be useful for collaboration.

It’s also the first seats offered to solo travellers if there are no more window seats left, as Qatar Airways policy dictates.

Due to the seating layout, only 4D and 4G are truly in the middle of a cabin, with the rest being offset to one side, while 6B and 6D back directly onto a galley.

The best Qsuites: trios and quads

Groups of three or four will be in for a treat, as they can utilise the special ‘quad pods’. With the centre dividers able to open up, it’s perfect for families and colleagues alike.

Each pair of E/F and D/G seats form a quad, and there are five of them on the Boeing 777s. The most central pod consists of 3E/F and 4D/G.

Qatar Airways Airbus A350-1000 and Airbus A350-900: Best Qsuites at a glance

Being one of the most spacious business class seats, Qatar’s newest Airbus jets sports Qsuites in a similar arrangement to the Boeing 777.

Our guidance for the best seats remain the same, although some of the actual specific seat numbers may be different. 

The Airbus A350-1000 (seatmap shown above) has 46 Qsuites across two cabins, while the smaller A350-900 has 36 Qsuites. Regardless, our picks are the same for both types:

• Solo travellers: 3A, 3K, 5A, 5K, 7A, 7K
• Cosy couples: 3E & 3F, 5E & 5F, 7E & 7F
• Coworkers: 2D & 2G, 4D & 4G, 6D & 6G, 8D & 8G
• Trios and Quads: Any of the available D/E/F/G ‘quad suites’

There's an easy way to remember which seats are forwards or backwards on the A350s - all odd-numbered rows face the back, and all even-numbered rows face forward.

The rear cabin on the A350-1000 certainly offers the 'private jet' feel, but keep in mind one row is close to the toilets and galley, and the second row is directly in front of economy bassinet positions.
