Can you use Qantas Points to upgrade to Jetstar business class?
Can you use Qantas Points to upgrade from economy to business class on a Jetstar flight?
In two words: unfortunately not!
Although Jetstar is owned by Qantas, it’s not possible to use your Qantas frequent flyer points for a business class upgrade on any Jetstar flight.
If you're really keen to fly Jetstar business class with points rather than paying up front, you can use Qantas Points to book Jetstar business class outright (rather than trying to upgrade from a paid economy ticket) via the Qantas website.
On routes like Melbourne-Singapore and Melbourne-Bangkok, you’d need 48,000 Qantas Points for a one-way business class booking, plus a modest cash payment to cover taxes, fees and airline charges.
Longer journeys like Sydney-Honolulu and Melbourne to both Tokyo and Osaka command a higher 57,600 Qantas Points.
That’s a touch more than to book Qantas premium economy on flights of similar lengths, but 20% fewer points than to fly in business class with Qantas or selected partners such as Emirates.
Take note that Jetstar only offers business class on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft – you won't business class seats on regular Australian domestic routes such as between Sydney and Melbourne, unless you take one of the rare Jetstar flights which have a domestic leg but leave from an international terminal.

If it costs more than QF premium then it's not worth the extra points - it's no different a product. Wait for a JQ promo sale and book a paid seat - earn points on it with a plus or max plus bundle only and save them for a QF upgrade instead.
Just flew JQ 'biz' to HNL and can say aside from the separate cabin and a larger seat, the service is nothing flash at all really.

In reality jetstar's business class is inferior to Qantas Premium economy, it is not worth the points at these levels.
Food and beverage is no better than economy class on full service carriers so you are effectively paying for a few inches of legroom in a seat that is uncomfortably padded.
Like all things Jetstar - it is best avoided
