With todays announcement of a healthy profit and Qantas now making a positive return, what do people think of chances of any upcoming announcement for a double status credit promotion given (pre-Covid) they were typically around the Feb-Apr timing?

I think (& hoping) there's a good chance they will as their status support extension ends for memberships rolling over after June 2023. So for those with anniversary dates July and onwards that a long way short (especially platinum) they'll be trying to work out what to do... last year it was offered late March.

Hoping they do offer it but probably slim to no chance this half year - if they can post high profits and tell the market that airfares will remain high, why do they need to do what is essentially a marketing campaign to pull in more customers?
I saw an article recently about them pulling out a not-so-old A332 to be converted to a freighter - not sure the sense in that when we still have fares and demand so high - a freighter from Victorville could have been a better choice so passenger capacity doesn’t decrease?

Double status credit offers are sales tools, they help increase premium cabin and flexible ticket sales along with locking in future travel. Nothing to do with the price of tickets (or jet fuel price for that matter), they will definitely be continued.

I kind of doubt if it Qantas will have any DSC soon. I agree with 'Philby' that DSC is indeed a sales tool, and I guess it brings forward future cash. But I doubt if Qantas has any cash flow issues right now to require bringing in more cash presently. Given the record profit, probably not?
Also, given the level of whinging I read regarding lounge overcrowding in other ET forums/articles, surely it strengthens the case for airlines to make reaching/retaining elite status just a tad more difficult? Can't have the cake and eat it too...

I'd not be surprised to see a DSC offer later this year as the final wave of status extensions peters out. As Philby rightly says, they're a sales tool and a powerful one at that, and will definitely have strong appeal to QFF members facing a post-Covid 'status drop'.

I had 3 trips to book and am waiting for DSC to be offered. I had to book one trip back from Europe already so have missed that chance, but can wait until last minute before booking 2 return Asia trips. Those 2 at DSC should take me into Platinum for the first time!
C'mon Qantas, for once let me get lucky.

Well, it's landed! Looking to book a few flights for the next 12 months. But what if I later change the dates?
The FAQs on the registration page don't address this. Digging into the fine print, headed "Important Information", under the FAQs... it's implied, but not stated explicitly, that as long as the new dates are within the promotional period (ie, until 28 Feb 2024), you'll still get the double credits:
"If you cancel your initial qualifying booking or change it to be outside the promotional period, the double Qantas Points or double Status Credits offer will not apply. "
Can anyone confirm or otherwise? Thanks!
