I recently flew back from Singapore on QF38 which ended up being delayed by 3 ½ hours due to some maintenance issue on the old A330 (Thanks Alan Joyce!). It does seem now like Qantas staff are almost accepting of delays. The apology from the pilot was half hearted and there was almost no mention of it from the flight attendants. As a Lifetime Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyer and as i looked out the window and saw the London flight also delayed, i couldnt help but think that Qantas has accepted delays as normal. I read so many times about delays with Qantas and have experienced the most delays myself with Qantas than with any other airline. Seems very timely that soon there will be government legislation to fine airlines for such delays as Qantas doesnt seem to care about it. Thoughts??
The official government statistics (Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics) shows that on-time performance by Qantas is better than Virgin, with fewer cancellations or delays. The detailed report is on the Qantas website, updated monthly. The reality is that every airline has delays and cancellations.

I am sure Qantas don’t care about the extra fees they have to pay to airports, and the extra wages they have to pay staff and the cost of fixing problems at outstations.
What nonsense to say they don’t care about delays. They may not care about you which is a separate problem, but they would want their flights on time.
I've never understood why Emirates and Qatar A380's operate like clockwork nearly every day out of Sydney, yet Qantas A380's nearly always seem to go tech or are delayed.

But then just yesterday I watched QF1 pushback early.

However the day before it was 5 hours late, 30 mins the day before that, and 90 mins the day before that.

Consider yourself blessed to witness a QF international early pushback. I can tell you that is certainly not a regular event at all, unfortunately.
Of my last 20 flights on Qantas only 4 have left on time (ie within 15 mins of scheduled time). Worst was a 21 hour delay London /Perth due to operating plane being hit by lightning on it's way Melb/Perth/London. Last flight in March was from Auckland to Brisbane.. over 1 hour late and their b grade lounge ran out of champagne and red wine!

There's plenty of other airlines that have better on time performance. Try them, or smile and accept QF delays.

If your LF Gold and Platinum status match to reliable, new aircraft, new seats, wifi that leave on time
Why bother being loyal, is platinum really worth the loyalty.....
