Hey everyone, I'm looking for a hotel in Melbourne CBD that has a late checkout e.g. 4pm. Any recommendations would be great. Most hotels I've looked at have a 10am or 1pm checkout, but I really need 4pm or later. Thank you.

No hotel will guarantee to give you that as standard without paying unless you are a top tier member of their program.

You could shortcut the top tier need and buy ambassador with IC. This pretty much assures you a 4pm checkout (i have never not been able to get it)

Agree with DP - I've got top tier status with both Starwood and Accor and often use late checkout so as to come back and work further for freshen up before an onward leg
Otherwise, consider the pay to stay longer option...

If your stay in Melbourne is 3 nights or more then you may wish to check out the 'Chic Apertif' special offer running at the Sofitel Melbourne which has a 3pm checkout (they may grant you the extra hour if they are not busy .... and you ask nicely). Good luck.

You are better off paying for 2 nights on a last minute website and checking out early

I am a Platiunum Level Memeber of Hyatt Gold Passport and Get late Checkout. I remeber a time when I was just a entry level member and they did not grant me late check out. You Need Status.

.. and AUSBT has recently published a nice article on how to upgrade your Hyatt membership to Gold level without any pain at all. :-)

I’ve got no status with any of the chains, however I usually play off the fact I am in the industry and Visa Platinum, (which offers 3pm late check out at Park Hyatt and one other place,) and ask the hotel directly. Although one of the earlier posters is correct, I can’t image any hotel guaranteeing it, until the day before as it has to do with when they need that room.
