Hi all, just booked a international sector and the seat QF on line the plan has 2:2:2 in J. Dose this mean their are some that have not got the new fit out? Are these skybeds, as I did not think they fitted any to the -200. What could this be?
I presume you may be going to Beijing? Qantas has deployed two non-refit A330-200 on this route for several reasons: firstly, the -300 cannot easily make Beijing with full loads of pax, fuel and cargo, whereas the -200 can. Secondly, this sector length requires two full meal services. There is insufficient galley space on the -300 after the refit, to manage two full meal services on a full flight. Almost all the time, the aircraft will be deployed between Sydney and Beijing plus a couple of domestic runs and very rarely on other sectors. They are usually seen on Beijing or Honolulu and rarely elsewhere. Although I can see Singapore having been visited n the last week!

Actually this is the reason why the domestic configured -200's are not doing this flight. The -300 have the galley space, but not the range at full load.
I was under the impression that these two 'un-refurbed' A330-200's were the original 'problem-children' with the light floors. IINM, they were immediately the first couple sent off to JQ years ago .. and inherited back to QF when JQ began taking delivery of the B787-8's. Anyone confirm?

They are EBG and EBL - I don't believe they have ever been at Jetstar. The plan was to return them to their lessors, but Qantas decided to keep them

The light floors is a myth, there is no such option. All floors are the same throughout the fleet.
The two unrefurbed aircraft are VH-EBG and EBL. They are being used full-time on SYD-PEK and will occasionally pop up on SYD-SIN or domestics. They will NOT be used for HNL any more or any other long-haul destination, as the PEK route requires two aircraft dedicated to it, and these are the only A330s suitable (for the range and galley reasons detailed above.)

Looks like they may well be on SYD/HNL duties after all. Have booked SYD/HNL for late Jan '18 and QF seat map is showing 2x2x2 in business. That would indicate un-refurbed A332 would it not?

Since mid-Jan these two aircraft predominately operate QF107/108 SYD-PEK.
