Undertherader, why don't you unsubscribe to Ausbt then, and just get updates from Qantas media. Comments like yours are a waste of time on this forum.

I HATE when someone starts a thread saying it is a 'scoop' based on NO ACTUAL FACTS. If the OP claims a scoop, please reveal the source/s. End of my thoughts on this topic. bye bye.

I thought there was only 1 A380 freed up by this change? I realise it takes 2 x A380's to operate the current QF9/10 but that is offset by the fact that QF1 will now have to sit idle at LHR for 15 hrs while waiting to depart as QF2. happy to be corrected.

You presume there will no change to the timetable for QF1 and 2. Big assumption and waste of an airframe.

I think they will retime the QF1/2 to prevent that.

The current QF1/2+9/10 rotation uses 5 aircraft. This was 6 aircraft prior to the QF9/10 retime (when 2 aircraft sat at LHR for 15 hours).
Removing the A380 from QF9/10 will free up 2 aircraft.

Daily EU-AU/NZ flights tend to require 3 aircraft. A 2 aircraft requirement is possible subject to curfew, slot and turn times.

Could we see qf1/2 retimed to a late evening departure from SYD , lunchtime arrival in LHR with the evening departure back arriving early morning to SYD allowing that frame to operate onto lax.  That could mean they operate to lax and lhr ex syd with 4.5 frames

I'd agree that would be a possible change that still works from a passenger perspective and enables greater efficiency

also economy after PE and the new J seats are pretty space efficient compared the current ones i don't think they take up too much more room

Well, on the A330s, there are now 28 J suites where there used to be 36 Skybeds.....

Yes they were 36 sky bed MK1's they took up less length than the MK2 as they angle down

The 332 (36J international) is not a good comparison because the old sky beds went back further in the cabin.
If you have a look at the 333 it went from 30 Skbed 1 ( 60inch pitch) to 28 sky suites. A380 skybed 2 is 80inch pitch. So they can actually fit in more sky suites than sky beds.
