You are on an australian travel website, mate. Expect hype and excitement for our carriers getting new types of aircraft etc.

Many travelers ignore (or don't consider) the personal physical benefits of the Dreamliner on long haul flights, namely the efforts of Boeing to reduce jetlag. I have found this aircraft BY FAR the most comfortable plane on the market in this regard. As a corporate traveler, if this plane falls within our booking policy/spend parameters, I would book it every time, whether AUS-USA, AUS-Asia or PER-LHR.

Well, the dreamliner does not need much maintenance. Alan Joyce has seen to that, so don't be concerned.

China Southern is not a problem. Quality aircraft, well trained staff. Just as long as the nav system works , you'll get to where you want and it's cheaper by far.
If you want to add to Alan's performance bonus by stumping up the premium to fly Qantas, go for it, or let your company do it.😎

Sorry dont fly enough to quote correct abbreviations but I booked ANZ Perth - Los Angeles return for 5K, Qantas wanted in the vicinity of 9K last time I looked.
Family trip Perth to London, Zurich to Perth, Wife & kids in PE and I in Business on Singapore Air for just 15K, no others come close, least of all Qantas
We are tall people and are happy to pay a higher fare for more room, service is secondary and meals/comfort after that with cost being a factor in the equation also.
I would love to be able to stick with Qantas but the difference is service & price isnt justifiable on these occasions to me

Way to go Lurch! You in Business and wife and Kids in PE . One heck of a tolerant wife!

Woah ...hate Qantas much? I'm quite sure most people know how to look up airfare prices. They are free to fly whoever they like. If qantas is offering an Australian alternative then people have that choice also. What a reaction...

This comment is in my opinion an over reaction. btaus made a comment about the hype surrounding the much talked about (for many years) Qantas B787-9 aircraft, and further the new upcoming service from Perth to London. btaus's comment's did not suggest that he would 'hate Qantas' in a general sense.

Same, I was amazed at how much better I felt disembarking my first flight on one.

Each time I've stepped off a Boeing 787 flight I have felt so much better than when flying on other aircraft. A lot of research and design went into the engineering and technology to make this a very passenger-friendly aircraft in terms of reducing the impact of jetlag and overall inflight fatigue, and I can vouch for that through my own experience.
