Qantas A330 business class: best seats for travelling with children

I am hoping for some seating tips for travelling from Sydney to Hawaii in the QANTAS business suites. Due to the privacy of each seat I am wondering what the best seating configuration would be for 2 parents travelling with a 4 and 8 year old. The obvious "middle section 2 behind each other" doesn't look ideal because of the non lowering privacy screen. Any tips would be much appreciated

While the middle seats have the non-moveable divider, it is still extremely easy to lean forward and look next to you. Also, there is no physical barrier between the two seats at floor level, so you can literally access each other's seats very easily.

In my opinion, this definitely beats going across the aisle, as you would have to go out of the suite and look diagonally to see your children, and obstruct the aisle if you needed to attend to them.

I don't see how you can get away from the middle section. The seats on the window side are very much alone, why I always choose them. people traveling together are always in the middle. Good luck. Just make sure your plane is a A330-300 (not A330-200).

Whilst the original skybed 1 on the A330 - 200 is not a good choice if you are travelling alone or with adult company, in my opinion it is a far better option when travelling with young kids. I have made several long haul trips SYD - LHR on the A380 and specifically chose this flight so that I could have the old style skybed. It's in a 2-2-2 layout, meaning you can sit in the B seat and your little one is "pinned" in in the A seat and has to climb over you to get out. Meaning I could sleep a little easier, knowing I'd be woken as soon as they needed help etc. Having said that, when travelling alone I avoid this type of seating layout whenever I can.

If it’s a 200, parents in 6E and 6F the eldest child sits in 5A and 1 child in 5K. That way 5A, 5K and 6F are open to the aisle and only leaves 6E with a privacy screen on the aisle.

do choose window and aisle, NOt the two middle seats as you cannot get to the kids: dad can you fix the tv, dad can you cut up my food, dad etcetc!!

remember that the seats are staggered so row 1 by the window lines up with row 2 in the middle section so choose 2a and 3e, 1a and 2e etc

I’ve flown with my 5 year old and I’d also recommend doing window and isle - not 2 middle seats. I can’t remember exactly which seats we had, but I made sure I was on the window in one of the odd number seats so I was closer to Tye isle and he was slightly in front of me so I could see what he was doing. Made it very easy, and I was in reach of him while seated if really needed. Definitely easier than 2 middle seats.

I think you are actually much better off in Premium Economy if travelling with children, compared to the modern business class. Was on a flight recently, and a mother and small daughter were seated nearby. The poor old mum was up and down like a yo-yo all flight to attend to the daughter. In PE, you are seated side by side and can help out but still watch your movie and eat your dinner.
