Good Evening travellers,

I have a situation with a family member who wants some information.

Date of departure 5th oct 2018 +- 2/3 days
Must be on QF
Intending to fly premium economy
Has approx 175,000 QFF points.
She is looking at aisle seats on the 789, from anyone's experience... which seat would be better on long haul window or aisle?
Also, with 175K points, what is the best way for her to obtain an upgrade to Business?

Thank you all :)

Personal preference.

Upgrades on Qantas are never guaranteed on international.

Is she a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? If light, go for window; if heavy, pick aisle. As for upgrades, as moa999 has said, it's a lottery. You can't do a confirmed upgrade for international, just request a points upgrade and find out not long before the flight (probably 24-48 hours prior).

What status does she have with QF?

The 5th October 2018 is a Friday, probably a more popular day of the week to fly. In general to try to maximise your upgrade lottery chances if possible you should try to choose a day that is less popular to travel. However your guess could be wrong.

Thanks for the reply. On a plane, I don't think she has the tendency to sleep at all, but would obviously love to get some shut-eye if possible. Her QFF status I assume is Bronze, or whatever the lowest tier is. In yours or anyone's experience how many points on average does it cost for an upgrade? Any other tips re 789 to London?

There is a table on the Qantas website - depending on the class of PE purchased a one-way upgrade would be 54,000-66,000 points
