I’m hoping someone can answer my query ? When doing the Perth to Brisbane red eye flight I will be using the Business lounge at BNE on arrival to freshen up. What happens with my checked luggage? Do I need to collect it and then go back through security and take it into the lounge?
You can go and collect it and take it through security provided you can actually get it through security. Otherwise, the bag keeps going around until someone from Qantas comes and take it to a baggage office. If the belt is being used for other domestic flights this could quite awhile but Brisbane seems to have enough belts so I doubt you could count on that.

I did this a few weeks ago on a VA flight PER to BNE. The baggage
is left on the belt until collected, or as mentioned above it is removed later.
I spent just shy of an hour in the lounge and my baggage was still on the belt.
I was told that staff usually look at the baggage tags and if it’s a gold or
platinum tag then they usually guess the holder is in the lounge due to their lounge
arrival entitlement and not because they are lost.

its annoying when people provide an incorrect answer. If you're not aware of the correct answer perhaps don't provide the advice - you're not a Jetstar employee lol!

I've now deleted to ensure I haven't caused too much distress for the valued members of the site - I just hope my most humble apology will be enough to keep the wolves at bay.
I have just Facebook messaged QANTAS and they are ADAMANT that you cannot use the J lounge after any red eye flight. I asked them to double check their facts and even said AusBT wrote an article on it... they’re holding firm that nobody can get off a red eye and use the J lounge (unless they are then boarding a J class flight).

I’m really confused now...
unless they have changed policy recently that's not correct, I've had a shower and breaky a couple of times in SYD after arriving from PER.

If its policy and the odd person shows up, usually they will let you in. They just do not want every last J class arrival crowding the lounge, which makes sense. Perhaps they should invest in arrival lounges if crowding is an issue.
