With the arrival of the B787 and QF weighing up the A350 and B777 for ULR route, I'm curious to know what city combinations (operated on QF metal) other QF Frequent Flyers would love to see added to the QF Route Map.

In addition to the proposed/desired ULR non-stops, Alan Joyce has been touting (i.e. SYD/MEL->JFK, SYD/MEL->LHR, SYD/MEL->ORD, etc.), I love the idea of SYD/MEL/BNE->HNL->JFK using a B787 or a reconfigured A333 with the new Business Suite plus Premium Economy. Clearing USA immigration and customs in HNL is so much more pleasant than at LAX plus the option of a cheeky tropical stop-over in either direction would be a nice way to break up the trip! Much like the daily flights from SYD, MEL and BNE now feed pax onto the LAX->JFK service the same arrangement could be put in place in HNL.

What "dream routes" do wish for on the QF route map?

There are many routes Qantas should start and they don't have to be with large aircraft! Go back to the hubbing strategy that worked well in Singapore. Auckland could also be a hub for smaller cities thru to USA. Traffic Australia to NZ plus pick up rights in Nz should work

Whilst Honolulu is great for cleaing US customs, lack of domestic Us traffic rights would prevent it working as an effective hub. Maybe one daily 787 Honolulu - New York- Honolulu may work but is there enough Australia - Honolulu stand alone traffic to make it a hub for Australian flights?

New a321s even in Jetstar service could be used for some flights

Would like to see routes such as:

Adelaide - Singapore
Adelaide - Auckland - Los Angeles

Canberra - Singapore
Canberra - Auckland - Los Angeles
Canberra - Wellington

Hobart - Perth connect London and Singapore
Hobart - Auckland connect Los Angeles

Newcastle - Auckland connect Los Angeles

Singapore- Townsville - Auckland connect Los Angeles

Perth - Auckland with connections either end to London and Los Angeles

Singapore - Alice Springs - Gold Coast

Singapore - Frankfurt
Singapore - Paris

Broome - Singapore

Darwin - Singapore

Cairns - Singapore
Cairns - Auckland connect Los Angeles

Auckland - Chicago
Auckland - New York when aircraft can do
Auckland - San Francisco

Singapore - Delhi
Singapore - Hong Kong
Singapore - Bangkok
Singapore - Dubai

Yes many of these routes are what Qantas had when Singapore was the big Qantas hub in 90s. It worked then so why not now!

What do people think?

"Yes many of these routes are what Qantas had when Singapore was the big Qantas hub in 90s. It worked then so why not now!"

1. Singapore airlines has better connectivity in Singapore with more capacity and frequency to the routes.

2. Low cost carriers are eating away at short haul/medium routes. Potentially Jetstar could compete in some of these routes, but it will be hard for QF to compete.

3. It would be better to fly to the cities directly instead of via Singapore where they are subject to intense competition.

Thanks Mjudd!

Your suggestions are great but not sure enough passengers would fly via Perth to fill planes to Parisand Fra kfurt.. Hubbing thru Singapore would ensure feed from all over Australia, tapping wider market

Brisbane (or anywhere In Australia at a push) to Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore. Existing codeshare arrangement from Singapore with Jet airways is awful (6 hours on a very tired feeling 737...)

Brisbane - Bangkok

Would love QF to fly to Taipei direct, rather than codesharing with CI, or Transfer in HK.

Paris and Frankfurt like LHR are perfect for Perth, Adelaide and Canberra passengers as it reduces the transfers by one stop. Easy to fill 240 seats on a 789. These are on the QF list alreadt

I agree! QF connecting any Australian capital to one of the three big Indian capitals would be awesome!! I've gone back to using SQ for trips to/from India since QF cancelled their SYD-BOM service. Nonstop services from Australia to India on QF metal timed to coordinate with code-share services with BA for onward travel to LHR and EK to DXB out of India would make it an even sweeter deal!

I think there's definitely an opportunity for SYD to GRU given the trade and tourism!
