I am heading to Manila for work in Business, flying from Sydney on 11 April and back on 19 April. I am sure I should know how to figure this out, but how often do the a330s without the new business suite appear on this route? Any ideas for these dates?
Be aware that even the "new" aircraft will be the 332's with the nasty plasticky seats and only 1 toilet in J. This is apparently due to be remedied later this year according to this website, but is still the case for now.
Wouldn't the Qantas booking page highlight if its the newer seats?
The older seating plan would show 2-2-2 and the new one 1-2-1?
Well, the info is there if you look for it, but it's not exactly highlighted.
Is the info there BEFORE you book, or only after during seat selection? I don't recall seeing seat maps prior to booking.
Yes, at the 'Passenger Details' stage, before you proceed to payment.
Thanks - that in itself is good information. I've always just looked when you can initially select the flight number with details (so doesn't tell you what version it will be).

When booking on Qantas website, where it shows the type of aircraft for a particular flight, it was also showing seat pitch for a period - so you can assume you are getting a new config/lie flat - this looks to have changed now and does not show pitch??. It does, of course, show the aircraft type when you drill down on the flight no. however it is not guaranteed. Booked J to Bangkok late last year for fight in May and was showing 333. At some point since then it has changed to old config 332. Even worse flight back a week later has also changed to 2x2x2 on 332.

According to the Qantas Source, three times in in the past month, most recently just yesterday 18/3, so about a 1/10 chance if that trend continues.

Well, it would be easier to check that, than to make a forum post for the whole world to respond on AusBT!

Amadeus shows both Sydney-Manila (QF19) and Manila-Sydney (QF20) as a A332 with the new configuration (i.e. 1-2-1).
