Amadeus shows both Sydney-Manila (QF19) and Manila-Sydney (QF20) as a A332 with the new configuration (i.e. 1-2-1).

I hope this helps.

Thanks - sure does!

I don't understand what the big secret is with Qantas. They give limited information on seating, don't release the aircraft info until you're on it (e.g. VA releases to flightradar24 the day before) and don't allow anyone to preview seating availability (such as on Expedia). Info, upfront and open would be appreciated, in my opinion.

You need to book the A330-300 for the new business suite. The A330-200 is the old ones. Don't be fooled by the seat mapping on the booking link. It will show you the newer 1-2-1 seating even though the 200's are 2-2-2. Unfortunately, Qantas swaps planes around at times too so you think you are in the newer metal and end up in the older metal.

Er, no: only two 332s have the old sloping 2-2-2 J; the rest of them have fully-flat 1-2-1 J.

Maybe next time, consider Philippine Airlines that unlike QF flies daily from SYD (although two different schedules) and about to be five times each week from Melbourne (again, two different sets of times) to MNL. Young A333s with 1-2-1 suite type seating in business class and all round superior attention from the crew compared to what you typically get on Qantas. Philippine has good safety and on time record. Fares typically cheaper as well.
