I was and still currently am but the looks of it, a Gold frequent flyer with Qantas. This of course can change as it is a public holiday and not a working day. I had only obtained 320SC out of the 600 needed. I wrote to Qantas roughly around the 20th of March saying I wouldn't be able to retain it this month due to a surgery I have had to undergo at the beginning of the month (this usually being when I do my business travel but that has obviously been delayed until this) and I received a reply a day later asking for a medical certificate and other information which I happily sent them back. It's been about 2 weeks and I haven't gotten a reply, I did however send a follow email on Thursday asking for an update on if I was able to extend my status by a month.
Has anybody been in this position or maybe just retained gold when only achieving 320SC or less. I have held the tier level for 3 years.
Were you seriously suggesting that you would have maintained Gold by earning 280 status credits this month but for this surgery you speak of? Must have been quiet a trip you had to forego.
Qantas have done this for me a couple of times, and are quite reasonable about it. If they have asked for medical certificates I think you are looking good, as if they were not going to do it they would not ask for those.

Hi Covvers, yes I was being pretty serious. Considering my routing is BNE-NRT-TPE-HKG-SIN-DXB-BNE :) .

You'd need to check your status again on the 4th, despite what the website says: normally Qantas takes a few days to downgrade you if you're losing status, just to let any last flights credit to your account on the off chance you retained your tier on the last day.

Apologies, I misunderstood what you were saying. It makes sense now that you would, but for the surgery, have completed the trip you refer to. Hopefully, you have some luck with QF. I would imagine if you could point to an itinerary which you were forced to cancel or reschedule, they will look more favourably upon your request.

Covvers, easily covered by a return business class trip to, say, LAX.

I understand they do use a rolling average to allow for such drops.
