315SC means a J class to Europe pretty much. The perks of Platinum over gold is significant but I dunno if I’d spend that much money to chase that.

For the lounges I use most, LAX, JFK, SIN and LHR it makes no difference and gold is fine. Just my view and others may differ

So he FLounge in LAX and access to CX F in LHR makes no difference to you?

So if you know you're unlikely to retain Platinum and have a lot of points saved up and can book well in advance you could try to fly Business for your long haul international flights on classic reward seats rather than book cash fares.

It may be unofficial but experience of AUSBT shows that that’s what happens.

Thanks, does the soft landing itself get another soft landing? i.e. Plat > Gold > Silver, or is it Plat > Gold > Bronze if you again fail to re-qualify for any status during the soft landing?

Yes, you'd go Plat > Gold > Silver > Bronze.

Don’t need a few thousands. Get yourself to Bali first than Bali-Kuala Lumper return trip 3 times will get you 360 status credit=900 AUD.

Remember your SCs still go toward your Lifetime Silver/Gold status. 315 SCs are a lot but if you are travelling overseas after you get Platinum may be worth it. Domestic flights not worth it.

BNE-SYD-DPS return in J will get you 320SC and a nice weekend in Bali. Access to OW first lounges would make Platinum worthwhile.
