I am flying Melbourne to Singapore on Qantas on a Sunday afternoon. Is there any way at all I can watch or listen to a live AFL game?
I don't think there is any WiFi on Qantas international. Can you get radio stations working on a personal radio / DAB device in the air? Any other solutions?
Long answer is if you’re high status ask the cabin manager to ask the pilots nicely if they can tune in when they have a light workload. It sounds at odds to what everyone believes but pilots do have some time during cruise where things aren’t as stressful and they may even be listening in themselves. (Shhhh)
Long long answer is if you’re desperate enough to listen you should be able to take an FM radio and sit near a window. Just grab the radio frequencies you need along your route and be prepared to change it often!
Thank you for the answer. I'll try option 3. Prefer to try and watch replay when I land than option 2!
Would be great if planes tuned into local radio stations so you could listen!
They used to have ABC and I used to always listen to on channel 2 in the seat from memory but as they’ve retired the 737/767s they didn’t put them back in. Had quite a few sporting events happen while I’ve been sitting onboard!
If you're lucky sometimes the QF pilots may be able to announce the scores inflight (that's assuming if they follow the AFL). Had that happen a few times on NZ (All Blacks Rugby Union) and QF Domestic (NRL scores).
The good old days of live ABC while in the air! Too bad 90% of the time you couldn't understand what was being said! I still remember once the Captain announcing shortly after take off that Essendon had won the ANZAC day match over Collingwood while flying back from HKG.

Short answer is no. No wifi so no audio or video.
