Hi

Does anyone know the opening hours of the Emirates Lounge at SYD?

Is it open for the full day? Or does it close when there are no flights?

I’m planning on being at SYD airport tomorrow between 9am - 11am and don’t want to use the Qantas Business Lounge as I don’t like it

Any other lounges anyone can recommend? Am gold Qantas and flying J with Qantas

Cheers

No, it's typically open from 4 am (when the terminal opens) until 7:30 am when the Christchurch flight leaves.

It then opens again around 12:30 pm until 9 pm when the last Emirates flight leaves.

Your only option based on QF Gold and J is the QF Business lounge. Otherwise, the right Amex might get you access to the Amex lounge or $77 will get you into the SkyTeam lounge.

Usually EK lounges outside of Dubai work around their scheduled flights. Opened from check in, until the departure of each flight.

Cheers, I’ll probably just hang out at a restaurant instead of the lounge.... the QF J lounge is awful, terrible food, crowded, noisy etc.

I have been through SYD twice in past 2 months and can tell you EK lounge closes when CHC flight departs, around 0730! QF J lounge is not that bad...a bit crowded but can find nice window seats if you are patient.

I was told the opening hours are 0430-0945 and 1500-2100.

Those hours are definitely wrong.

Emirates lounges typically open ~3 hours prior departure and close upon boarding. Currently, they've got 5 daily departures:

6:00am - Dubai
7:50am - Christchurch
4:05pm - Dubai
7:20pm - Bangkok
9:00pm - Dubai

The lounge shuts after the Christchurch flight but reopens around 3 to 3.5 hours before the 4pm Dubai flight (definilty opening well before 3pm).

I'm with you. Have been in the QF lounge just too often. Will soon be Plat so looking forward to that. OW is really stuck for choice with just the QF lounges. Last Saturday en route to Auckland had a decent lunch at the Wolfgang Puck Bistro and had a walk around the terminal. If Mr.Joyce is reading then please have a look at the HK and Singapore lounges as a blueprint for the new Sydney lounge. Especially HK

Great, thanks for clarifying. Those incorrect hours were advised by the call centre when I called to enquire. They really should have more accurate information on hand.

I can second the Wolfgang Puck restaurant recommendation! It’s really lovely and has a nice view over the tarmac

Its no longer Qantas Lounges in the relaxing space before a flight sense but more of a morphing into true Qantas pubs from LHR to SIN to HKG and def SYD and MEL. Even the LAX F lounge has nothing really redeeming or exclusive when compared with SYD or MEL F lounges. Premium pax offerings on board and on the ground with QF are slowly fading.
