I've searched the VA/Velocity website and details are limited. So, as a Platinum Velocity flyer flying with Virgin Atlantic, are my 'privileges' extended. In other words, can I get lounge access in London, LA, and Hong Kong. Priority boarding, better seats etc? Also, can I take my partner + two kids in the lounges?

What lounge in Hong Kong...?

They unfortunately use the Plaza Premium lounge which is pretty sub-par compared to what else if on offer in HK. You're better off just finding a nice restaurant or bar in the terminal.
It's so disappointing for a carrier like Virgin Atlantic.

Yes--you will receive benefits on Virgin Atlantic, but it isn't a full extension. You will receive both priority check in at the Upper Class counter, and priority boarding, before all Virgin Atlantic flights. You will also receive priority security screening where it is available to Virgin Atlantic business class and frequent flyers. Virgin Atlantic does not have dedicated seating zones for frequent flyers. They charge for advance seat assignments in the economy cabin, and for exit row seating. While Virgin Atlantic's own elites have these fees waived, Virgin Australia elites are not entitled to this waiver. It's always worth a call, though, you never know. Lounge access varies by airport--you are entitled to access at all of Virgin Atlantic's clubhouse lounges. These are notably at BOS, JNB, LGW, LHR, LAX, JFK, EWR, SFO, and IAD. I don't believe that the elite agreement explicitly covers third party lounges, like at HKG, but again, it is always worth asking--maybe someone else has experience with third party lounge access via Virgin Australia status on partners. At Virgin Atlantic lounges, you are entitled to bring one guest into the lounge with you. There is no separate child guest allowance, but a child can be guested as your one guest.

Lounge access for Velocity members flying Virgin Atlantic is strictly limited to Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses only, which is all Virgin Australia will pay for when flying VS, not any third-party lounges in places like Hong Kong. Only exception is of course when flying Upper Class where lounge access is provided via the ticket.

If you have access, the Centurion Lounge in Hong Kong is much better than the Plaza Premium Lounge that VS uses.

Perfect, thanks for the quick responses. Ended up getting the family some super cheap flights BNE - LHR next year via LAX, direct via VS website. $4,006 all up in economy of course (2 x adults + 2 x kids). And they charge no credit-card fees either. I was hoping to use my points but it's not worth it when you can get fares like this.

At least flying via LAX you'll have access to the LAX Clubhouse en route to London (and the Emirates lounge on the way back).

My mother in law as a VA silver recently managed to use her two VA silver lounge passes to get access for 2 to the VS clubhouse at Boston prior to economy flight to LHR. Pretty sure these passes are only meant to be good for access to VA domestic lounges in Aus. Always worth asking them to bend the rules!

I am VA platinum and was travelling HKG-LHR prem econ on VS last month. Tried to access their lounge in HKG (plaza premium) but no chance unless you are in Upper Class. Anyway HKG airport is ok even if not in a lounge. On the return journey no problem accessing the excellent VS Clubhouse at LHR.
