I have always preferred Virgin over QANTAS, but having been Velocity Platinum for a number of years, in some respects I regret choosing Virgin. By now I would have earned lifetime Silver with QANTAS and would have well on my way to lifetime Gold. Do you think that one day that Virgin may introduce lifetime status?

Maybe/maybe not. I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Same situation here, definitely times I regret choosing VA, same with some of the other people at work here. Really hope VA will introduce it. If my flying increases to where I start achieving 2000+ credits a year (which it might be soon) I'll be moving straight to QF.

Some after achieving LifeTime Gold on QF then switch to flying VA to have status on both airlines.

The lack of LifeTime status on VA is one of the reasons I stick to flying QF.

If you’re thinking of moving to QF try to get a status match or a status challenge to fast track your way to status.

Totally agree, lifetime status is a reason I am sticking with QF for now.

Another thing to consider is the longevity of VA. To me, QF seems to be an airline which will likely stick around for a while, so definitely worth working hard to pursue lifetime with them.

Also worth noting that earn rates can be different on different airlines. There is a QF points & status credits calculator that would give you an indication as to how much you can expect to earn from your expected travel. Even then it's worth noting that some fare classes on OneWorld partner airlines may not be eligible to earn SC and EK marketed flights earn 0 SC. If a fair bit of your travel won't be on QF if you switch to QF that's something you'll need to pay a fair bit of attention to to make sure you will reach your goals.

50% bonus and Double SC promotions and status runs can help, but if you averaged say 2000 SC a year (which is a lot) it would take 7 years to get from 0 QF LTSC to 1400 LTSC to get LTG. That's a lot of travel.

I expect LTG will be several years away for me still unless QF adds a LTP (LifeTime Platinum) that entices me to up my rate of travel, but I suspect LTG will continue to be as good as LifeTime status gets on QF.

No regrets! Think of the misery you will have put yourself through just to achieve QF LTG!

Velocity wont offer lifetime status, as they know their days are numbered. VA will be broke soon, just like every other Australian airline that has come up against Qantas.

What about lifetime bronze on QF? Haha

Not long to go until I qualify for that - my next PER - LHR J class trip should do it.

Lifetime status on Velocity would seem to be incompatible with family pooling. So while that is in place could not see them offering this.

If VA were to offer LifeTime Status they could make family pooling SCs not count towards LifeTime status.

Are there many airlines around the world offering a lifetime status or is it a specific thing to QF, can someone get lifetime status with one of VA partners for example.
