When I was last there (that was last month, I think) the lounge was mostly still intact. You enter via the new QANTAS Club now though.

Once the new Business Lounge is ready they’ll close off the old one for the third and final stage of the renovations.

Hi Kitch: right now the Qantas Melbourne business lounge looks the same as it has for years, only smaller and thus more crowded due to renovations to create the new business lounge (which is due to open in September). You come up the escalators, turn right into the new Qantas Club (also smaller and more crowded than it will be when renovations are complete) and walk right to the end, past the bar. This used to be the rear of the business lounge, now it's the temporary entry. Buffet, bar, kitchen, dining area are all the same as you're used to.

The work currently going on basically stretches along the footprint of the old Qantas Club, including the old entry to the business lounge. Come September, that area will open with all-new design, furniture, fittings, Noodle Bar dining etc, and what's now the current business lounge will close for the final stage of the project.

There's a bit more on all this towards the bottom of this article: https://www.ausbt.com.au/first-photos-qantas-opens-new-look-melbourne-qantas-club-lounge

Whilst I would agree with the "smaller and crowded" at least the drab furniture has gone.

For the QP when you come up the escalator, you turn right. Out of habit and as a frequent traveller I still turn left then think reno.

Come Sep, I can go back to my old ways.

This will be one of the better changes to the whole Melbourne lounge layout: no more having to walk through the Qantas Club to get to the Business Lounge, let alone that odd chicane of an exitway. Two lounges, each with their own entry, and to get out you just walk back the way you came in!

The Business Lounge will be better than before, but the QANTAS Club has lost its runway views.

The Qantas club though is very nice compared to before. We left the old business lounge in favour of it last week.

Just visited the QF Club on Friday and it's definitely an improvement over the previous version, in saying that, you can feel the lack of natural light. Will be interesting to see how the new QF J lounge goes.

Outside of peak times the new Qantas Club is a very nice place to be, especially around the bar. But it's such a narrow design that there is nowhere really quiet to sit and relax because there are almost always people walking past you not too far away.
