I used it BNE-ADL on Wednesday night and it was fine for Slack conversations. I ended up having multiple chat sessions going and sharing some files.
I didn't do any web browsing other than having Gmail open in Chrome - seemed fine...

I have had wifi a few times on the Sydney to Melbourne return flight and been able to run many different apps and not had any issues . The only people who complain is my family who don't want 5 min updates about how high or how fast the plane is going :-)

Haha - I had a few complaints from my colleagues who were looking forward to me being offline for a few hours!

I used it on QF1012 HBA-MEL recently. Very quick, didn't drop out once. Loved the free service.

@747SP: i agree! On the way back to SYD: such great fun tracking your aircraft on FlightRadat24. So geeky though.

I agree and it is a bit Geeky, but it is so much fun, watch your flight on Flight Radar 24. I do avoid my work email especially on the flight home . I like the 747SP as it flew a little higher and a little faster than the 747 .

Have used it a couple of times ADL-MEL and MEL-HBA. It was quick and stable. Will try flight radar next time...

I've had it once, between PER and MEL. Seemed fine, even out over the bight (not that we went that far south on that flight)

I've had it on 2 flights PER-MEL, CAIN-MEL and it was unusable, continually dropped out and on Cairns-Melbourne flight the aircraft lost communication with the satillites and the flight crew couldn't log back into the system.

From maps I've seen the NBN spot beams have decent coverage over the night and Bass Straight. Not the Tasman Sea however so nothing to NZ

QF569 SYD-PER last Thursday 2 Aug - didn’t work at all. The flight attendant tried resetting the system but gave up in the end...eventually with a p.a. announcement that the “WiFi was unavailable.”

I must be lucky or something but in the past 4 months, I've done 6 flights (BNE-SYD/MEL) and everytime it has worked perfectly, at a great speed and without any interruptions.
