Seems like Express Path departures at SYD isn’t the only thing gone from Sydney Airport recently!

Just found out this evening that they’re temporarily running a reduced menu while the kitchen is being renovated - the most noticeable change seems to be the hole on the menu that used to be their signature Salt & Pepper Squid.

They’ve had to remove the deep fryer to redo the flooring so there’s nothing fried on the menu at the moment.

Apparently it’s causing quite the stir amongst frequent visitors! 😆

Not sure when the renovations are due to complete but can’t wait for the Squid to return..

This is an actual tragedy. I was looking forward to sampling it for the first time this week...

You'll have to buy pitchforks from duty free, you won't get externally purchased ones through security :P

Does anyone have a photo of this so called 'reduced menu' for reference for when I fly this week that they can post on here?

Oh no! That's one favourite dish I order there (my other things order would be steamed greens and gin splitz).

1st world problems

What other problems would you have in a 1st class lounge?

But seriously, the s&p calamari is a highlight of any QF F lounge visit so it's understandable that visitors will not be thrilled about this.

No hash browns with my Egg Benedict (salmon) yesterday when I was there mid-morning. Was going to suggest to send someone to McDonalds or Hungry Jacks to get some. As brettepi says “1st world problem”

Blast. That and the pork bau are my staples. On a CX flight this week may have to resort to something less satisfying. Truly a first world problem

Hmmm, i'm flying out this Thursday morning on CX110, I do hope my corn fritters has survived this Thanos-like snap. Will see if I can grab a copy of the pared-back menu and share here.

Salt and pepper squid is also off the menu in the Canberra Chairman's Lounge at the moment. Apparently waiting for a new deep fryer.

So here's a copy of the current pared-back breakfast menu: can confirm that due to kitchen renovations (new flooring) there's no fryer in operation, which means no corn fritters, no hash browns with your 'big breakfast', no fried eggs (scrambled eggs not on the menu for some reason but can be done) and later in the day, no calamari.

The good news: those kitchen renovations will be finished by the end of this month, at which point all that good stuff will be back!
