I'll be in London for my anniversary and am wondering anyone can recommend the best Hilton? I'm Velocity PLatinum so am eligible for reciprocal Diamond membership with Hilton. We'd ideally get canapes and drinks at the hotel's exec lounge before going out for dinner and a show. Any recommendations appreciated.
Hotels in London can be incredibly expensive, particularly those right near West End. As I know London well, I don't mind staying a little further away from the centre of town, as long as there's the Tube - but equally understand the desire to stay closer to the city on a holiday (or a higher-star hotel).
Personally, I find the Hilton London Kensington usually delivers a good balance between cost and experience for Hilton elites. The hotel has an Executive Lounge on the ground floor (which of course, as Diamond, you'd be guaranteed access to), with friendly staff, decent breakfast and a decent evening service. Just note, despite its name, the hotel is really more in Shepherd's Bush rather than Kensington - it's practically across the road from Westfield London, which is great for shopping, and the Tube station is of course Shepherd's Bush too which is on the (red) Central line.
I've heard good things about Conrad London St James too (good lounge, but higher price tag), but haven't stayed there myself.
I agree that for a special stay the Conrad London St James is an excellent choice if it's within your budget. The Hilton Paddington was also a favourite of mine due to easy and convenient transport connections but I've heard it's become more run-down the past few year. Nearby the Hilton Metropole offers good value and is close to Edgware Rd Underground Station plus the a wide variety of Middle Eastern eateries.
Just a guess but perhaps for an anniversary stay you would prefer to travel around London by black cab rather than overcrowded Tube? If so the Conrad St James is your best bet for quality and position.
Conrad St James for luxury.... Hilton Bankside for treatment as a Diamond member. The Trafalgar Square one is very nice / modern too but the rooms are a bit small... even with an upgrade but it's got a great rooftop bar!

The Hilton Hyde Park was quite basic, but very lovely. Was nice to wake up to views over Hyde Park in the morning!

Look into The Biltmore in Mayfair. Not cheap by any means but for a special occasion it is worth it.
