Flying Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne soon in Business, booked through Malaysia airlines and it's a Z class fare. When I go to the calculator online, it shows that Business Class seats don't get status credits anymore - is this true? Do you even get points?
This is a shame because I had no idea that was the case and I might change it to another airline - so let me know thanks!
Well, thats terrible. But I've after them status credits so I'll keep to my Qantas FF. Sucks how poorly Qantas treats points/SC earned with certain partners though.
I this is agreed by partners to encourage you to fly their own metal on sectors they compete on. It does mean longer layovers etc. Am trying to get to Nepal and avoid Hong Kong as Cathay is struggling so may cancel flights but via KL is very time consuming and complex. If I fly Malaysian not many SCs until I get to the KL Kathmandu sector.
Malaysia Airlines flights within Asia, especially Z-class business will earn good numbers of SCs. Between Australia and Asia not so many. Check how many you will get using the Qantas calculator here https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/calculators.html#/

It seems you get them at the flexible economy rate. I suspect the fare is much cheaper than Qantas hence the lower earn rate.
