My co-director was on JQ64 out of HCMC on Monday 23rd, in business class. I arranged his flights from Australia. He got home and is now self-quarantining. However, he was one of the lucky ones. Twelve other passengers were bounced out of business class to make room for Jetstar crew. It's a timely reminder that Jetstar put the paying passenger well below the convenience of their own crew. One also wonders why the crew weren't put in economy and that economy passengers weren't bounced instead.

Hi AJeremy,
I'm ex crew from Virgin (left in 2013). Without wanting to quote Kath Day-Knight, I've got one word for you: "EBA"

Jetstar is a joke, worst airline in Australia. Service is appalling and cancellations they are disgusting. If you are in business dont waste your time with this joke airline.

Bit of context before a story is half told- this was an extraordinary circumstance where the crew operated JQ63 up from MEL and instantly turned around as PAX as there was no other suitable way for them to get back with the COVID-19 situation. If this didn't occur, the flight wouldn't have operated all together. 2hr pre-flight sign-on in MEL, 8.5hr MEL-SGN flight time, 2hr SGN turnaround, 8hr SGN-MEL flight time = 20.5hr duty time plus arrival time back into MEL etc. all without dedicated crew rest area. I'd be more than understanding of this situation if I was bumped (and told, which the PAX were) bearing in mind downgrade compensation will also be granted...

Sounds like a reasonable enough explanation but have you ever tried to resolve something with a banana airline where they need to pay you something back?
Each of them will deliberately frustrate the process and you to the point it is usually cheaper to write off the fare and move on. That is why Jetstar is the last choice of carrier for our business. The sum total of the experiences has left us very reluctant to use them.

Only a tick below Qantas. Their effective owner. Don't forget that.
I will never ever stoop to flying in a Q

That's why Jetstar earned the dubious titles of 'deathstar' and 'onestar'.....all their own doing. Jetstar is an airline only to be flown when there is no other alternative.
