I applied a few years ago as a VA platinum and was offered a gold challenge which I respectfully declined as I was already an Aadvantage Platinum member.
Applied again in January of this year after flying 1500 status credits on VA metal in 6 months and was turned down altogether. Apparently the tier accelerator is now only open to QF members that have only ever held bronze or silver status.
As I previously earned QF gold for a few years approximately 15 years ago I was already familiar with premium qantas benefits and therefore ineligible. Spoke with a manager and they again confirmed this policy..
I've previously forwarded the emailed responses from QF to ET and asked if they could confirm this with their sources at QF. Never received a response.
I'm Velocity Gold and I work with a Velocity Platinum, we both applied for the Qantas Tier Accelerator and once we supplied proof of previous VA travel based on our Velocity account's activity statements, Qantas offered each of us QF Gold status. The good thing is that we also have the opportunity to activate the three-month earning period or 'challenge' through to the middle of 2021, Qantas obviously allowing that a lot of people just can't travel right now even domestically due to border closures.

How long did Qantas take to get back to you once applied?
I got a call yesterday, one week after my email request with an offer of Gold challenge, 200 status credits in 90 days. Matched to my Platinum Virgin status. They also allowed me to back date the start date as I’ve been flying 2-4 times weekly all year (accept for April and May). So I worked my start date to mid August and will have 200 SC’s by next week. In the meantime, Qantas did invite me to use the Qantas lounge whilst undertaking the challenge.
Just to add that I've heard directly from at least a dozen readers with Velocity Gold or Platinum status who contacted Qantas about the Tier Accelerator 'challenge'. They've all been offered the same deal as some have mentioned here: a match to Qantas Gold upon earning 200 status credits in 90 days, with the ability to start that 90-day period any time through to June 2021.

Hi All
Just wondering if any VA Gold or Platinum members applied for the Qantas Tier Accelerator program recently and heard back from Qantas?
I'm a VA platinum and am looking to book a few flights soon but want to know potential chances of the Qantas Tier Accelerator acceptance.

@Blankman
If the accelerator is limited to those who was bronze or silver only that may mean a lot of difference to many readers there.
ET editors may need to officially confirm this with QF as I think there are many who are holding out for a status match and/or challenge

Have any of those people offered the challenge ever previously been Gold or Platinum with Qantas?
