Will Virgin return to International Long Haul flights to USA, and timeframe to such or will they leave the field for QANTAS,AIR NEW ZEALAND, just a small query as this person had come to appreciate Virgin's attitude to their customers, great air and ground staff that treated and respected their customers

Im pretty sure Virgin had said return to long haul was slated end of 2022 or 2023 but it all depends on when travel ramps up. Jayne Hrdlicka had stated they were confident they could acquire long haul aircraft with ease.

Bain also part owns a aircraft leasing company, where they had bought 2 of Virgin Atlantic's 787s and directly leased back the 787s to Virgin Atlantic. There is also that option.

Short answer - Virgin itself doesn't know at this point. As others have said, 2022-23 would be the absolute earliest.
What is an absolute certainty is that VA will only do international long haul if it is guaranteed to make a profit - which probably means LAX would be its only route. You then have to ask if/why they would go to the trouble of setting up an international operation to cover just one destination.

History proved LA was viable for VA. But their entire operation was debt ridden which realistically prevented them expanding or investing albeit with HK and Tokyo. They are still holding onto their Haneda slot so money would be on LA and Tokyo when intl re starts and they acquire at least long haul 3 aircraft to do this.
Off topic slightly - I have wondered if Virgin Aus could become what Virgin Atlantic is to BA and have a greater intl presence competing against the always larger Qantas. There's a big intl market to Tap into - particularly now to Europe direct as Qantas have proved. Now under new helm and debt wiped they could be free when a surge in intl rebounds in 2-3 years+

I hope they reintroduce HONG KONG in the not too distant future.a lot of us remember when it was Ansett,Qantas and Cathay Pacific from 1994-2001 but then Ansett went bust and we were back to two operators(If we don't include the extension of the Virgin Atlantic London-Hong Kong services onto Australia that ran for a decade)till only recent years.

How far can a 737 travel?; that's VA "long-haul".
