I'm seeing plenty of $39 flights between Melbourne and Sydney on Rex (eg. May 13). It actually saddens me a little bit to see REX apparently losing so much money on this route.

Is this the final throw of the dice for REX?

We've seen it all before. Impossible for a small player to compete with the deep pockets of Qantas juggernaut and VA protecting their turf.

Has anyone seen any advertising by Rex? They had the odd item on news media when they launched their intercity services, but I've not seen any paid advertising by them. The basic rule of marketing is that if you want to sell something then you need advertisements to promote your product.

As stated a while back....compass Mk IV. Virgin will be lucky to survive let alone Rex.

maybe for the time poor who in the old days used to go by coach or train on the same sectors.80 to 90 minutes on a plane compared to 9 or 10 hours any other way before budget airlines even existed.

As a Canberran in small business I wish them well. Q has screwed us all for many years on this sector. I had a one day course in Sydney which supposedly was to finish at 5 which would be a 6.55 flight to Cb. Course finished early and at the airport after 3.00. I asked for an early flight at 4.00 and was advised yes can do for a fee of $820 one way, and was a P member. I wish them well and V, screw their lousy prima donna attitude of Q..

How dare Qantas enforce the conditions of the ticket class you willingly purchased! The sheer nerve of them!
