East Hotel Canberra offers chic new capital option

Business travellers heading to Canberra have a new stylish option with the opening of East Hotel.

Located between Kingston and Manuka, with 140 rooms laid out in studio and apartment styles, East should be well-suited for short-term trips and longer business travel stays.

Ox Eatery provides is the hotel restaurant, and has a bar and delicatessen alongside if you're looking for something lighter. Kitchen facilities are available in every room.

There's a 24-hour gym on site, plus free access to a larger local gym for more machines and exercise classes.

Laundry facilities are found in many rooms, with studio apartments getting access to a shared guest laundry instead.

Contemporary design is the name of the game at East, starting in the lobby and carrying on through the rooms.

Two-bedroom suites are perfect for bringing along the other half and the kids, with bunk beds, special child-friendly furnishings and an Xbox Kinect.

If you fancy mixing a bit of gaming with your business trip, never fear: Xboxes and board games are available at reception for grownups to borrow, and there's air hockey downstairs to "foster the creative environment that leads to the success of any meating"... or just to beat the pants off Pat in Accounts at air hockey.
